Georgian Bay Islands National Park encompasses 59 islands with a total size of 25.6 square kilometers. It is situated off the southeast shore of Georgian Bay, and is accessible only by boat.. The park was established in 1929. However, Beausoleil Island, the park's largest island, has been inhabited long before it became a National Park.
For thousands of years the island has served as hunting and fishing camps for Aboriginal people. Explore the interesting landscape, observe the various plant and wildlife, and learn of the Aboriginal history that dates back hundreds of years. Georgian Bay Islands National Park is open all year. A visitor centre is located on Beausoleil Island at Cedar Spring.
